National Service Scheme (NSS)

The basic concept of National Service Scheme is to give an extension dimension to the higher education system and orient the student youth to community service while they are studying in an educational institution. This is to create social consciousness among students, by establishing a meaningful linkage between the campus and community. The main objective of the NSS is to inculate a spirit of voluntary work in students and teachers though sustained community interaaction.NSS constructs a network of the student and faculty and meaningfully contributes to national integration and community.

The National service scheme unit in Don Bosco college has planned a number of social activities for the academic year 2018-19.

NSS unit was inaugurated by the principal,Dr.Fr. Joy Ullattil.

These are the following activities conducted by the unit during the academic year 2017-19.

  • Campus cleaning
  • Participation in vadakanad strike
  • Human Chain Campaign
  • Clean campus green campus
  • Football tournament
  • Tree plantation
  • Kerala flood relief intervention at Kallur
  • Kerala flood relief intervention at Panamaram
  • Kerala flood relief intervention at Kaniyampatta
  • Clean wayanad green wayanad
  • Indo global social service society survey
  • Christmas gifts to colony

The NSS special camp was conducted from 25/12/18 to 31/12/18 at Anappara. The following activities were conducted during the camp:

  • Campus cleaning
  • Rain water channelling
  • Chulliyod town cleaning
  • Construction work of a house
  • School premises cleaning

Details of the dignitaries attended the camp are the following:

  • Mr. Sabu Vargheese, the Ward member
  • Mrs. Mary, the president of Nenmeny Grama Panchayath
  • Fr. Thomas Poovelikkal, the manager of Don Bosco college
  • Dr. Fr.Joy Ullattil, the principal of Don Bosco College
