Don Bosco College Sulthan Bathery, Wayanad is an institution offering education in social work since 2015-16. The college was started under patronage of St. John Bosco popularly known as Don Bosco. The College is recognized by UGC. It has been awarded ‘B’ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The institution has the vision to help the students “to be intellectually competent, spiritually mature, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically fit and socially acceptable persons.” for this we are providing social work education to the student residing in rural area. At present the college offers full time BSW and MSW programme in social work. Both the courses are sought among the student’s population and according to the seat availability and application ratio. Three-year Bachelor of Social Work & two year Post Graduate programme in Social Work, approved under section 2f of the UGC Act, leading to the degree of Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) aim at training students to plan and execute an extensive range of social services and social welfare activities. An innovative blend of theory, fieldwork and research is designed to provide the students with a variety of skills to enable them to be active social workers, to set up and manage social work organizations of their own or to find employment with various national and international agencies in the field.
The popularity of the course increases during last few years. Excellent teaching learning process, facilities, committed and competent faculty, opportunities of personal interaction with NGO leaders, industry Managers and alumni and the freedom and openness, opportunities for personal and professional development all these features contribute for a distinctive and unique identity of the college. Though the college has limited number of student intake, it has been able to make its presence both in the professional era and in the area of development of the community.
